2013 Year in
Review
Wow! What an eventful year for the Davis
family! God has truly blessed us
exceedingly abundantly more than we could have ever asked this year!
We
have a favorite song in our house called “Welcome to the Family” the words are
as follows:
Welcome to the family,
We’re glad that you have come to share your life with
us
As you grow in love and
May we always be to you
What God would have us be
A family, always there
To be strong and to lean on (or belong – we disagree
and interchange)
May we learn to love each other
More with each new day
May words of love be on our lips in everything we say
May the Spirit melt our hearts
And teach us how to pray
That we might be a true family
This song was originally written as a welcome into God’s family
as a child of God. We use it in two ways
as a welcome to our family through adoption and welcome to God’s family through
adoption. We got to sing it both ways
this year!!! What a wonderful testimony
of what God has done in our lives that we got to officially welcome Malachi
Adrian Davis into our family on April 2 (though he was ours starting Aug. 24,
2012). In July we got to welcome
Benjamin into the family of God and Hannah soon followed in September. Their Daddy got to baptize them both on Sept.
15, what a day to rejoice in what Jesus has done in their lives!!!
Daniel is still working at Lifeway editing The Gospel
Project. He recently got a promotion and
is now the Content Editor of this piece.
He really enjoys his work in ministering to churches through doing his
best to make sure their Sunday School literature is faithful to Scripture and
quality material. He is also the Student
Pastor at our church and enjoys being able to hang out with and minister to the
teenagers at church and their families.
Their big trip this year was to Ridgecrest
to Centrifuge. In his free time he loves
to play x-box on-line with his brothers. Though he is an editor, he obviously did not edit this letter!! :)
Christy is full-time stay at home Mama and homeschool
teacher. This job is a very fun job but at
times overwhelming too! She loves to
play games with the kids and do lesson plans!
She still likes to scrapbook when there is spare time but that is
rare. She loves holding and rocking her
babies and is thankful to have another baby in the house!
Hannah is “almost 8”
which she has been saying since her birthday in February. She is full of life and always doing
something! She is continuing to thrive
at gymnastics and enjoys it though she wants to try all the sports! She played soccer this fall and proved to be
an excellent player. She really shined
at defense but did well at offense too!
She loved it and can’t wait to play again. She also wants to try softball. She is in 2nd grade in homeschool
and is doing well in school. We’ve
really seen her improve in school all around this year, which is
wonderful!
Benjamin will be 7 in
February. He is our quiet one at home
but tends to be the opposite when out an about!
He is very smart and picks up on things very quickly. He loves to go to his room and work on
building Lego sets. He is also in 2nd
grade and does very well in school (when he puts his mind to it!). He is thriving in music. He started taking lessons in August and has
done amazingly well. He plays everything
by ear at this time and pretty much can play a song after hearing it once. It is very cool to watch and hear! He also played soccer in the fall and played
well. He got some of the only goals for
his team for the season.
Malachi is almost 18 months and so much like his big sister
in personality! They are both little
spit fires! Keeps Mama busy and brings
some spunk to our lives!! He had an
unsuccessful heart cath in April to try to open up his pulmonary artery, after
all of his doctors having a meeting they decided a second open heart surgery was
necessary to fix the pulmonary artery as well as move a vein that was going the
wrong direction (something found in the first surgery that they chose not to
fix since they had so much else to fix).
So on June 10 surgeons performed his second open heart surgery. We got to see God work a miracle on his
little heart as the vein that needed to be fixed was gone! The doctor was very confused, and this was
going to be the most extensive part of the surgery! It was very exciting to see God take care of
this and we got out of the hospital 3-5 days earlier than we expected!!! He is doing really well but there is still a
possibility for more work on the pulmonary artery. He has a check-up on Friday. Other than knowing he has a heart problem you
could never tell just by looking at him.
He is full of life and busy, busy, busy as a normal toddler would
be! He loves books, especially his
Superman book. He now says “for
doop-man” which is toddler language for “This is a job for Superman”! His favorite number is “eight” and has been
entertaining all of us with the love of this number for about 6 months. He thinks he is as big as the big kids and
wants to do everything they do. Since he
can’t always this is a cause for lots of fits!!
We are so thankful for this little guy.
He has added such joy to our whole family!
I feel like there is so much more I could tell you about
this year but this is probably a good summary!
We are so thankful to God for the many blessings he has given us. We are so thankful for our friends and family
that have shared in our journey with us this year! Our extended family is doing well. My parents are still in Clarksville
so they are close by and we get to see them a lot. Andrew, Haley, and their 4 kids are still in
Mt. Juliet Mt.
Juliet Davis
side 20 grandbabies. So much fun to have
so many cousins to play with!
