VeggieTales in the Park

Tonight we took Hannah and Benjamin to see the newest VeggieTale movie in the park. Bob and Larry showed up and Hannah was so excited! Mommy and Daddy were excited because Andrew Peterson showed up. Daddy was going to talk to him but he slipped out early. Benjamin and Daddy were sitting with our stuff and our blanket, so that is why Benjamin is not in the pictures.

Look at that happy grin!

Bye Bye Paci!

Well, it had to happen sometime, today is the day, it is not the best day for this to have happened because Hannah is sick. She had a high fever all day yesterday and today her eczema is bad because of the fever, so she is very itchy. But, we have no choice. Today the paci had to go. It was getting a tear in it and if it fell off while she was sleeping she could choke. We have been preparing Hannah the last few weeks that it would soon be time for her to get rid of the paci. When we were in Huntsville she almost gave it to her new cousin Claire.

One night last week we couldn't find it (it is the only one we have left and I vowed once it was lost that was it), I asked her where she left it, she said she gave it to baby Claire. I said that was good and that she needed it more than Hannah did. Well, a couple of minutes later we found the paci in her bed.

Today I told her, your paci is starting to break, you need to either throw it away or mail it to baby Claire. So she said she wanted to mail it to baby Claire.

Hannah coloring the package to mail the paci in
We wrote baby Claire a note that said "Here is my paci, I hope you take good care of it. I am a big girl now and so you need it more than I do" or something like that....
She dropped it down in there and she wanted to lick the envelope herself (I was a bit worried about her licking it, there is probably corn in the adhesive, but I let her do it anyway)

Mommy couldn't find any stamps and since the mailman hadn't come for the day we just set the package by the door for Daddy to mail for us. Tonight we are going to go to Wal-mart and get a big girl toy! Hooray! She called Grani and Grammy and Aunt Johnna to let them know that she is a big girl and that she mailed her paci to baby Claire.

Happy Birthday Daddy

For Daddy's birthday we had a few people from church over to play games. We ended up playing Rock Band the whole time. We borrowed it from Andrew and Ashley. Hannah was our singer, Daddy the drummer, Brad and Carlton Base and Carlton's friend lead guitar.

Parent Dedication

We had Benjamin's baby dedication on Father's Day....it did not go very well....Hannah was with us in the beginning and as you will see from the photo she is not. Also notice that Benjamin is leaning forward...he is fussing because he wants to get down to walk. Hannah screamed as soon as we walked down front, she continued to scream, at the top of her lungs, all through the first family's dedication, I looked at the pastor's wife and said "what do I do?", she told me to just leave her (at this point she was on the floor screaming). No one heard what the pastor said, I'm not sure if he was using a mic either...anyway, she screamed and screamed and finally I sent her to my Mom, who took her out of the service. Well, it was our turn and Benjamin fussed and fussed (which is not like him, but he did run fever the next day and he is teething so I guess we can excuse him a little bit), but we have no idea what the pastor said!

For those of you not familiar with Baptist baby dedications they really have nothing to do with the baby at all. The point of a baby dedication is that the parents are dedicating themselves to bring up the child "in the Lord". They make a covenant (at least they should...often it is just a baby parade....but that is a sermon for another time....) with the church that they will raise the child and teach him/her about God and the Bible. So a more fitting term would be Parent Dedication.

Meeting Beautiful Claire

Hannah holding "baby Claire" - I wanted a picture with Benjamin too but he wouldn't even look at her. I'm not sure he ever noticed her. We got a few pictures of the two of them beside each other but it still seemed he didn't know she was a real baby. Of course he thinks he is a baby so that may be why!

Uncle Daniel, Aunt Christy and all but 1 of our nieces and nephews on Daddy's side of the family!

Daniel's Graduation Party

Daniel's group at work decided to throw him a surprise party for his graduation! They were so nice to put this all together! They got pictures from me and Andrew and they asked Andrew and Ashley lots of questions in order to make it a very special day for Daniel. They called us and we showed up and surprised him as well.

They put together a skit called "contagious christian" because they said Daniel is a contagious christian. It was a very funny skit and they did a good job. The above picture is the audience.
